Gazprom Space Systems (JSC), a daughter company of JSC Gazprom, carries out activity in the field of development and operating space telecommunication and geo-information systems for the companies of Gazprom Group and other customers. Gazprom Space Systems has an up-to-date space and ground infrastructure, strong diversified business, a wide client base, and high-skilled team. The company has created, and now operates and develops Yamal satellite communication and broadcasting system consisting of:
  • orbital constellation (Yamal-202, Yamal-300K, Yamal-402 and Yamal-401 satellites) and ground operation facilities;
  • ground infrastructure (NOC, teleports, digital satellite TV center, network of ground stations in the Russian regions).
The company has built and now operates the aerospace monitoring center and works on developing the orbital constellation of SMOTR radar and optic earth observation satellites.
Gazprom Space Systems is one of the two Russian national satellite operators and one of about 40 satellite operators in the world. The number of TV channels on Yamal satellites exceeded 300 that is about 50% of the total number of TV channels distributed over Russia via satellites.
About 10 thousand receive/transmit ground stations are operated via Yamal satellites that is about 15% of the total number of ground stations in the Russian Federation.
According to the COMNEWS Publishing House Gazprom Space Systems is recognized as the most innovative satellite operator in Russia in 2012, and the largest satellite operator in the number of equivalent transponders aimed at Russia in 2013.
In the World Teleport Association’s global ranking of the Fastest Growing Satellite Telecommunication Companies in the year 2013 Gazprom Space Systems was ranked the third position.
On the World Satellite Business Week in Paris Gazprom Space Systems was recognized as the best regional satellite operator in 2013.

Since 2005 it broadcasts a pack of TV channels to European part of Russia and also to Siberian, Ural and Far East regions. Company has more than 12 mln. subscribers (including 1 mln. HD-subscribers). Broadcasting under the brands of "Tricolor TV" and "Tricolor TV Sibir" is made by CJSC "National Satellite Company" (Moscow).

Thales Alenia Space is present in Russia since 1992 thanks to the cooperation with ISS-Reshetnev. In its role and up to now, Thales Alenia Space was the sole provider of payloads to be integrated in the Russian platforms . To date, Thales Alenia Space has participated in 30 programs in conjunction with Russian industry. It includes payloads mainly dedicated for the Russian operator RSCC and payloads provided for foreign operators built jointly with ISS or Krunichev but also satellite’s contract with Gazprom Space System. Yamal 402, to be delivered in the upcoming months will be the first Spacebus satellite to reach the Russian fleet.
